Crown, Bridges & Dentures
Our restorative clinic works in conjunction with our other services to provide a complete service, where required, so it may be necessary for you to see more than one clinician. Dr Ana Oliveira is a dentist with special interest in restorations which encompasses bridges, crowns, dentures and cosmetic fillings. We are happy to see you on a self referral basis or you can be referred by your general dentist.
A crown fits over your damaged tooth to replace it’s functionality. It is made from metal or a combination of metal and porcelain and is fixed in your mouth as a long term solution. Your broken or damaged tooth is drilled down to a peg shape and impressions are taken to have the crown made at the dental laboratory. This usually takes about 2 weeks to be made, so you would have a temporary crown in the interim.
A bridge is made up of two or more crowns and anchors to the surrounding teeth. It is an effective way of replacing missing teeth and prevents an increased load on your remaining teeth, as well as improving your bite and appearance. They are usually made from precious metal and porcelain.
Full or partial dentures (commonly known as false teeth) are a removable solution to one or more missing teeth, allowing you to maintain a healthy diet and a confident smile. They are made of acrylic or metal.
Tooth coloured fillings made up of a composite, ceramic resin which adhere well to the tooth and provide strength. Many people prefer this type of filling for aesthetic reasons.
Veneers are a very thin layers of porcelain or ceramic material that cover the natural teeth and can be used to correct a variety of concerns including crooked, uneven, chipped or discoloured teeth.
